Dan Dare/Batman Ray Gun

This Batman Toy "Ray Gun" from the 1960's is complete and the shooting mechanism is still working. It looks almost exactly like the Dan Dare (A Sci-Fi comic book hero from the UK) Ray Gun from the 50s and they must have used the same mold. See the middle photo and judge for yourself. I'm not sure but I guess it may even be the same toy company that made both of these.

Please note that I don't own the Dan Dare Ray Gun and I found the photo on a sci-fi toy site called Swapsale.

One of my favorite Batmobiles

Batman Returns Batmobile made in Japan 1992. Very nice design and quality. It's got a pull-back function. Never opened and unpunched.

The text on the box reads:
"A sleek high-powered sports car (!) possessing four wheel drive and off-road capability. Designed to be the most dangerous car on the road."

Something for an Aussie Batman

Boomerang Bats that were molded after the Batman Batarang toy from 1966 as shown in the pic below (source unknown). I don't own the vintage original and it's very rare. I found the two bootleg batarangs in a small toy store in the Swedish countryside.

Something for the Penguin to try out...

A Toy Biz Remote Control (cord) Batmobile with blazing turbine light from 1989. I have the Turbine Sound model too (as shown below).

There were a number of different models of the Batmobile made by Toy Biz that hit the market 20 years ago:

Electronic Batmobile
Radio Control Batmobile
Turbine Sound Batmobile

Remote Control with sound Batmobile
Remote Control with light and sound Batmobile

...as well as two models for use with action figures - on of them had a plastic cocoon like the one shown in the movie when Batman blows up Axis Chemicals.

More info on the toy Batmobiles can be found here:

Let's go for a ride on my Harley, Harley...

Batman the movie Jokercycle from Toybiz (1989). The sidecar launces at the press of a button.

More Bootleg Action Figures

Two bootlegs that use some graphics from the Legends of the Dark Knight series and the figures and accessories are based on the Mission Masters line.

The World's Easiest Batman Puzzle

I have a couple of Batman puzzles but none is as easy as this one... Made of foam.

The Men Who Laughs...

The Joker x 3: Animated Series plastic mask, Alex Ross Joker action figure and classic Joker bobble head.

Batman Band-Aids/Plasters

Swedish made band-aids with three different Batman motives.

Spider-Man joins in - more Bootlegs from Greece

Super Heroes - A Batman bootleg with two guns and a cape that looks like it belongs to Dracula. Thegraphics on the packaging is just plain weird as it often it with bootleg toys. Here we see Spider-Man, Superman, Hulk and the Power Rangers.

And this double pack is called Super Change and a very golden Batman is accompanied by Spider-Man. A sword-carrying devil is seen on the card...

The League of Batmen

A pack of five bootleg Batman action figures that I bought in Rhodes, Greece.

Le Pingouin!

This Penguin figure came with Quick kids meal boxes. Quick is a chain of fast food restaurants in France. I have the Batman figure he is 8 inches tall, biggest action figures I've ever seen from a fast food resturant. I coudn't find a photo of Bats himself but here's a blog entry from "The World's Greatest Toys" about the Quick Batman line:

The Soundtrack the animated movie Batman: Gotham Knight by Christopher Drake, Robjert J. Kral and Kevin Manthei. I also have an extra booklet signed by all three composers.

Holy vinyl Bruce, they dedicated this one to us!

The song titles have nothing to do with Batman, check out this track list:

Side 1 (A)
  1. Rocket Stream
  2. 25th Century Rock
  3. Spaceboat
  4. Robot Walk
  5. Happy Plant
  6. One Million A.D.
Side 2 (B)
  1. Moonbeams
  2. Time Lapse
  3. Futurama
  4. Solo Time
  5. Jupiter
  6. Blue Plane

..and on the drums; Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepott!

A French vinyl picture disco from 2006. I doubt that three of the band members would ever consider to pay tribute to the Batman...

A full track listing and more info on this album can be found here:

Powerful Gun!

Now this is an odd item... A plastic toy gun that shoots small Bat logo discs. It's unopened and probably made in the 70s.

I brought chaos and anarchy to Gotham...and all i got was this lousy T-shirt!

Three of my Joker T-shirts. The first one is from 1989, the second from 2006 (H&M) and I got the third one from the store French Connection in 2008.

Tortilla Chips & Bank Busts

The Batman tortilla chips are shaped like the Bat symbol and a bank bust (coin bank) was included in the box. The same mold was used for a bust that came with a box of Batman cereal but a sticker were added to the face.

Gentlemen, lets broaden our minds... Lawrence!

An Italian vinyl record from 1989 with house music tracks from Black Box, Acid Fly and 49ers.

Bad Guys Bubble Bath Containers

Very nice head sculpts on these Batman The Animated series bubble bath containers. Would be great to use for creating really big custom figures...

Batman Game - The Adventures of the Caped Crusader

There's rather many Batman board games and this version is from 1976 by Denys Fisher Toys, an English company founded by Denys Fisher who invented the Spirograph!

Fishers company was bought by Hasbro in the 70s and there is a variant of the game with Hasbro's logo on it and the game board is black instead of white and the box is purple.

As you can see there's not much content; a board, a spinner instead of a dice and four playing pieces with a very uninspired design...

These board games sell for very low prices on Ebay. I got this one for one pound, that's approx. $1.50.

Japanese Puzzle

Some of my bootleg pics were featured on the great Bat-Blog in the beginning of May. Here's the link: http://tomztoyz.blogspot.com/2009/05/wacky-crazy-bootleg-batman-toys-from.html

This is a very colorful puzzle from Japan that clearly draws inspiration from Batman the movie with Bats, the Nicholson Joker and Vicki Vale.

But something is wrong with this picture. That orange Batplane. The goon that almost looks like a pirate. And Bats himself looks a bit off judging from the look on his face. And a Batmobile the size of a toy car.

Bootleg Batmobile

I bought this and several other bootleg (knock-offs) Batman items when I was in Greece last year on vacation. The design and quality is better than most unlicensed bootleg toys.

As you can see (click on the image to view a larger version - goes for all pics on this blog) in the photo they've used a Batman Begins-like design with the bats but also a Bacardi bat logo up in the left corner!

I really love the weird stuff. More pics of bootleg toys will pop up every now and then.

Goin' Mobile

I think this was the first merchandise from Batman the movie that I got back in 1989. It measures approx. 20 x 28 Inches (50 x 70 centimeters) and made of paperboard.

When in Rome...

Gladiator Batman is soon on his way to Sweden from the UK. I think this makes my collection of single (non-deluxe) action figures from the Legends of Batman series complete.

But I could be wrong.

PEZ dispensers

I have many Batman PEZ dispensers. These are the latest I got and they're from 2008.

But The Two-Face design with the blue face... not so good. But I guess a more realistic look like in The Dark Knight movie would ruin most peoples appetite for eating candy...

The Dark Knight DVD/Blue-Ray promo posters

I got two 27 x 40" (70x100 cm) promo posters from a friend who worked at an electronics store.

Holy Wonder-Pig!

Bats and the Wonder-Pig. I'm not sure I will display this.. but I like the wierd Bat stuff. This is not a bootleg though - the Wonder-Pig do exist in the JLA universe. This reminds me of Batman in the 50's battling aliens and turning into a Bat-Baby...
