The Batwing/Batplane x 3

The Batwing Water Blaster where the 1989 movie version were transformed into a water gun.

The Animated series version of the Batwing as a Die-Cast model...

..and the toy Batplane for use with action figures. I don't have the box butI think it's complete and in a good condition.

Patches

Batman patches from the 80s with Adam West as Batman, Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns Batman, a Neal Adams-like Batman and a round variant of the Bat logo.

I have never seen any of these on Ebay or anywhere else, except for the last one with the logo. I bought them from a street seller in Stockholm in 1988 and my guess is that they're bootlegs.

Catwoman & Batman Bust Banks

A cheap way to get statuesque (like a statue) figures for your collection is to get a bust bank. I found the Catwoman bank in an almost empty Warner Bros store in the UK some years ago. A few scratches and a color stain made it possible for me to get it for just one pound.

The Batman bust is still available in stores online for about $20 but you can find it way cheaper on Ebay. It looks good as a display item, almost like a statue figure.

Keychains

I've posted photos of a few of my Batman keychains before and here's some more:

Yesterday I had pics of Bullyland figures and they also made a keychain figure as you can see here. Not surprisingly, it's from 1989...

The classic yellow/black logo. By H&M.

This one is a well-crafted sturdy keychain that the Swedish jeans store Gul & Blå (Yellow & Blue) released in... you guessed it, 1989.

My favorite Bat logo on a metal plate.

I really like this one with the dark graphics. I think I bought it in the UK.

I have to return some videotapes...

In case you're wonderin' why I sometimes have odd titles for my blog posts I often use quotes from music and movies. In this case a quote from Patrick Bateman from the American Psycho novel and movie. He was played by none other than Christian Bale, who landed the role of Batman partly becauce of his intense portrayal of Bateman. From Bateman to Batman...

In this post I've uploaded a couple of photos of my Batman video tapes. First, the Swedish edition of the second best Batman movie of all time - in my opinion - Batman: Mask of the Phantasm from 1993.

The Batman Trilogy 1989-1995.

Batman - the movie, 1989.

This is a rare one, a Swedish editon of the Super Friends cartoon by animation studio Hanna-Barbera, that aired 1972-1986. On the tape there's just a few episodes from the mid-80s when they had added "The Legendary Super Powers Show" to the title.

And here's a 1989 tape that takes a look at the Batman phenomenon. It's just 37 minutes and the editing and sound could have been better but there's some interesting stuff here for the true Batfan. It's was re-released on DVD with a lot more material in 2002.

The Bat Whispers from 1930 was a re-make of a 1926 silent movie called The Bat. They both helped to inspire artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger when they created Batman in 1939. The movie is well worth viewing, check out the first six minutes here:

German Bully Figures

All of these were, including the two with a missing hand (a rough night in Gotham), were made by the German toy company Bullyland in 1989. They have produced a lot of different characters for more than 30 years and all their figures and figurines are often nicely detailed and made from PVC plastic.

The So-Called Limited Edition Batman Figures

These are two "limited edition" figures, a very popular term to use for all sorts of toys that might appeal to collectors. I've never been that interested in such items but I've got a few.

These boxed figures are the 1997 Commemorative Edition Batman (also known as the "Hong-Kong" Batman), and the 100th Batman Edition. On Ebay there's always atleast one of each available at all times and they're not expensive, they can be bought from web shops too.

I wonder if these mass-produced so-called "limited" figures ever will have any value in the future or become rare. I got the Hong Kong Batman for almost nothing but the figure is so ugly with the golden costume that I think the seller should have paid me...

Just kidding... ;-)

Magazines #1

First, the Swedish version of the official movie guide to Batman, from 1989. It includes articles about Prince's music for the film, behind-the-scenes and a small poster.

My favorite movie magazine is Empire and this is the July 2005 issue.

Swedish MAD from February 1989. This was before the movie had premiered, but the Swedish Television were showing re-runs of the 1960's TV show starring Adam West and Burt Ward. In this issue there's a re-printed spoof of that.

A Norwegian issue of MAD Magazine from 1989.

Swedish MAD from 1992 with a Batman Returns spoof.

Retro T-Shirt

I got this in a music store in Sweden, a t-shirt with a washed-out Bat logo on the front and a sports number on the back. Kind of an odd combination, don't you think?

Don't Open The Box!

I decided to open one of my boxed Batmobiles and have a look at the contents. And this is what's inside; Batmobile, the insertable Launching Pursuit Jet and an instruction sheet.

TDK Bubblegum Containers

Bought these yesterday, two bubblegum containers made by UNO Foods in Poland 2008. They have these image-changing (don't know what else to call them..) stickers on the top with cartoonish versions of The Dark Knight movie Batman.

66' Batmobile Test-Drive part 2

I scanned the whole article from the Swedish magazine "The World of Technology" (Teknikens Värld) where the 66' Batmobile is put to the test. It's not a serious test and some parts are rather funny to read. Here's some excerpts, translated:

The Police must stop Batman - his car is a traffic hazard!

- The car is missing; safety belts, windscreen wipers, telescopic steering wheel pole (?), defroster, reliable car breaks, compartment space.

- The car has, despite it's size, only two seats. So if Batman wants to drive his old mother (the writer of this article didn't know much about Batman haha!) or a bad guy to county prison, Robin would have to stay at home.

- We find a control for a Bat-Ray projector, a gadget that stuns the criminals until the police arrive to collect them.

The cover of the magazine can be seen here:

Batman Bubblegum Cards Series 1

Batman Series 1 cards from 1966 by Topps. Most of the images were painted by Norm Saunders and pencilled by Bob Powell. There was 55 cards in this first set so I need 19 more to make it complete. And some kid has drawn on one of the cards ("Decoy") so I need to replace that too...

Please not that these are not in order - for a complete guide to the cards you can check this out this site:

Five In A Row #6

Bat logo cap.

Yellow banner, 1989.

The Batman Begins game for Playstation 2. It's got a great atmosphere in some levels and the music is very good but I think the gameplay is way too easy. I still prefer the old 80's Batman games; The Caped Crusader & Batman the movie for the Commodore 64 home computer.

Warner Home Video Promo Keychain.

A 2005-06 Batman Begins notebook/calendar.

Five In A Row #5

Batman Forever Inflatable Bop Bag from 1995.

A Batman Begins figure from the German toy company Bully.

Three more pinback buttons (badges).

Banner from 1989.

DC Super Heroes wallet.
